Trading Sessions

Trading on GE-AS now runs in 3 daily sessions. Each session is a 1-hour window during which you can place bids. Outside of these windows, the bid button is disabled and you will need to wait for the next session.

The Three Sessions

The sessions are spaced across the day so that traders in every timezone have a convenient window.

Each session lasts 1 hour.

Converting to Your Local Time

All session times are in UTC. If you are in Lagos (WAT, UTC+1), the Dawn Session opens at 02:00 your time. The Midday Session opens at 10:00 your time. The Evening Session opens at 18:00 your time.

How Sessions Work

1. Session opens. The countdown reaches zero and bidding becomes available. The session banner on the product page turns green.
2. Bidding period. For the next 60 minutes, you can place bids on any available product.
3. Session closes. The bid button is disabled. The banner turns grey. Wait for the next session.

The Countdown Timer

On the product pages, you will see a countdown timer. This tells you:

• During a session: how many minutes and seconds remain before the session closes.
• Between sessions: how much time until the next session opens.

The countdown updates every second.

When to Sell

Unlike bidding, you can initiate a sell at any time. You do not need to wait for a session. However, your sell will be evaluated within 24 hours after you submit it.

What Happens If I Miss a Session?

Nothing. You simply wait for the next one. There are 3 sessions every day, so the longest wait is about 7 hours. Your account, balance, and products are not affected by missing a session.

Planning Your Trades

• Check the countdown to know when the next session opens.
• Review the products you want to bid on before the session starts.
• Have your budget ready.
• If you won a bid and want to sell, you can initiate the sell immediately without waiting for a session.

Session Names

Dawn Session (01:00 UTC) suits traders in Asia, the Pacific, and East Africa. Midday Session (09:00 UTC) suits traders in Europe, West Africa, and the Middle East. Evening Session (17:00 UTC) suits traders in the Americas, West Africa, and Western Europe.
